I tella ciryamo tella ciryallo,
ya tuvë mernë i tië Númenna,
ciryallo metta Noldoiva, vanwë
mi lómëanóre rómess' úvanya.
I telda ciryamo, cild' ambartanen,
et Ossëo helcë falmallon lehtaina,
cuilenna nenillon mi sinda falassë
Nenion Herunen né enantaina.
Istyalye men sina, ar oronteryar,
sintelyes ilyë, almárië rissen.
Nan Vinyamar yerna ondonen carna
ná lusta ar vanwë i sinomë marner.
Ardanna muin' avánientë,
i lómëo halien nuldar Formello
varnassë harien mi lúmë úvarna,

Nan lá ilya estel ná vanwa tenn'oio
ar ume ú tyeldeo Valion ormë.
Or ulca Quendion ná voronwenta
i sí ëarello ngwalca tultaina.
Amba a cena, orta órelya,
entula minn' Endóreo lumbë,
I túla elyenna, mi sinda collo,
ná úner i yondoron Eldaliéva.
Ter fírima Atan i estel antaina,
ter fírima túlas, i hrívesse ringa,
i tuile nan tuluva minna Endóre
ar i Elen Estelo nauva tintaina.
Interlinear translation:
I Omentie Vinyamasse
The Meeting at Vinyamar
I tella ciryamo tella ciryallo
The last mariner from the last ship
ya tuvë mernë i tië Númenna,
that wished to find the way to [the] West,
Ciryallo metta Noldoiva, vanwë
From the last ship of the Noldor, lost
mi lómeanóre rómess' úvanya.
in the shadowy, unlovely country on the East.
[rómess' úvaina: I use the elision sometimes, mostly to avoid hiatus between two same vowels, or for metrical reasons - here to get rid of one unstressed syllable before an other long: rómE(n)sse úvAnya]
I telda ciryamo, cild' ambartanen,
The last mariner, chosen by the fate
et Ossëo helcë falmallon lehtaina,
released from the cool waves of Osse,
cuilenna nenillon mi sinda falassë
to the life out of the waters on the gray shore
Nenion Herunen né enantaina.
by the Lord of the Waters was given back
[Lehta- "loose" (Etym). enantaina: "re-given" (anta- "give")]
Istyalyë men sina, ar oronteryar,
You know this place, and its mountains,
sintelyes ilyë, almárie rissen.
you knew everything in the prosperous days.
Nan Vinyamar yerna ondonen carna
But Vinyamar old of stone made
ná lusta ar vanwë i sinome marner.
is empty and gone those who dwelled here.
[almárie: pl. of almárea: "blessed".Vinyamar yerna: meant as a word play: "New-home old".
ondonen - I suppose the instrumental can be used for the material.]
Ardanna muin' avániente,
To the secret realm they are gone,
i lómëo halien nuldar Formello
in order to hide, hidden off the shadow from the North
varnasse harien mi lúme úvarna,
to have safety in unsafe time,
tenn' umbar metya i estel intyaina.
untill the doom puts the end to the supposed hope.
[arda - somewhere translated as "realm", Do not remember where...i lómeo halien nuldar: halya- "to screen, to hide", dative gerund. thought the genitive lómeo the best. nuldar: "hidden" i.e. those who are gone.
harien: harya- "to posses" dat. gerund.
Intyaina - intya- "to suppose, to believe" passive part.]
Nan lá ilya estel ná vanwa tenn'oio,
But not all [the] hope is lost forever,
ar ume ú tyeldëo Valion ormë.
and the anger of the Mighty is not without end.
Or ulca Quendion ná voronwenta
Above the malice of Quendi is their faithfullness
i sí ëarello ngwalca tultaina.
that is now brought out of the cruel sea.
[ulca - from QL, see Genesis 2 by Helge Fauskanger. Or - from the Cirions Oath. enta - "their" - i.e. of the Valar.voronwe i earello tultaina - intended ambiguity. ngwalca or nwalca - "cruel" (Etym)]
Amba a cena, orta órelya,
Look up, raise your heart,
entula minn' Endóreo lumbë,
come again into the shadow of the Middle Earth,
I túla elyenna, mi sinda collo,
who is coming against you in the gray cloak,
ná uner i yondoron Eldaliéva.
is nobody of the Elven-folk sons.
[mine i yondon - partitive genitive.]
Ter fírima Atan i estel antaina,
Through the mortal Man the hope [is] given
ter fírima túlas, i hrívessë ringa,
through the mortal it is coming, in the cold winter,
i tuilë nan tuluva minna Endórë,
but the spring shall come to the Middle Earth,
ar i Elen Estelo nauva tintaina.
and the Star of [the] Hope shall be kindled.
[nauva - future tense from the VT#42I elen estelo - Quenya translation of the Gil Estel = Earendil]
